Suggested Launch Site - The Launch site is on the east bank of the river opposite the Ferryman Inn. There is limited parking.

General Description - Set of southwest. Northmore lock is in about a mile and a half. All Thames locks are manned. The lock keepers are generally happy to allow canoes to use the lock, avoiding the need for portaging. Newbridge is a further two miles where you will find the Maybush Inn on one side and the Rose Revived on the other.

A further two miles will take you to Shifford Lock where we turned round to return to the start.

the trip is 12 miles with two locks (but no portaging!)

I have just heard a report of a friend leaving his car hat Bablock Hythe (east bank) overnight and coming back to find it torched. Wherever you park your car please be aware of such risks.
